Government approves of proposal to convert government residentials into public parks

Lahore: The government has approved proposals to convert luxurious residences of government officials into public parks.
According to reports, a member of Punjab Assembly belonging to PML-N has demanded to make the residences of government officials public parks.
According to ARY News, Mian Tahir, an MPA from PML-N, pointed out the large residences under the possession of government officials in a meeting held in the Punjab Assembly.
He told the House that government officials live in 12-acre residences while they should be allotted one-kanal villas and these huge residences should be open to public.
Mian Tahir said that public parks should be set up at these residences for the convenience of people where they can go for sightseeing and recreation.
The Parliamentary Secretary in the House admitted that there is no doubt that government officials in the province live in large residences, the law must be amended to provide smaller residences.
The Parliamentary Secretary acknowledged Mian Tahir’s suggestion and assured the House that the government would look into the matter. On this the Deputy Speaker directed them to make changes to this system.
