Government to offer air safari license to private sector

Oct 11, 2021: To promote Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision to expand tourism in the country, the government is formulating a strategy to launch air safaris for tourist destinations, a statement issued on Sunday said.

Under this strategy, licences will be issued to the private sector for the start of the service in accordance with National Aviation Policy 2019. The licensee can operate to and from top tourism destinations, including Gwadar, Moen-jo-Daro, Skardu, Chitral, Gilgit etc.

The statement said the private sector license would be processed within 60 days, and would stand valid for five years. It added that there would be no landing, housing and air navigation charges at both ends of social and economic routes.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority will support the development of new landing strips in the northern regions, such as through helipad joint ventures or a public-private partnership model.
