Govt distributes 5 mln Insaf Health Cards in Punjab: Yasmin Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Feb 18 (APP):Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Tuesday said Insaf health cards were disseminated among more than five million deserving families in the province during first phase while two million more would be given in next phase.

She said that this initiative is a first step of the incumbent government towards establishing “Madina State” in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, she said the government collected data from NADRA and all needy segments whose daily income was around two dollars,moreover widows, orphans and transgenders were included from the list of Ehsaas program.

Eight common ailments and viral infections or diseases including accident,neural surgery, birth delivery and cheap treatment to chronicle disease such as cancer could be treated as the health card was worth of 7 lac and 20 thousand rupees, she further said. The whole family of a card holder would be allowed to get free checkups and free indoor facilities, she said.

Around 30% of masses went to government hospitals but this initiative would attract more segments so the government had provided more beds and increased rooms in hospitals, furthermore the card holder could be able to get medical services from any of the public hospital in the country, she mentioned.

“More than 20 lac will be inducted in the list to facilitate more people from this service,govt employees will also be considered to receive IHC in near future” she stated.
