It is believed that the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) project will enable wealth creation and in turn, help to run approximately forty associated industries.

A video clip shared on the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Twitter page highlighted that the project is a multi-billion dollar development scheme and will help the govt in creating jobs for the youth and the unemployed. PM Khan can be seen in the video, talking about the project while giving a tour of the Rakh Jokh forest.

According to PM Khan, “We need to set up new cities in view of the growing population”, he added that if we fail to do, we will also fail to provide the necessary “civic facilities to the people”.

In addition, the Prime Minister mentioned that Lahore is set to face civic problems similar to Karachi due to ‘unplanned’ urban development.

It is pertinent to note that the Lahore High Court declared the Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project (RRUDP) illegal, on Tuesday, while announcing its verdict on the petitions against the project. The court reportedly declared Section 4 of the RUDA Ordinance 2021 ‘unlawful’ and ‘unconstitutional’.
