Govt to challenge Gillani’s victory in the Senate elections

Lahore, 3rd March: The ruling government has announced to challenge the victory of PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gillani in the Senate elections that were held today.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, Dr Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Political Relations has challenged the result of the Senate elections 2021 and the victory of Yousaf Raza Gillani for the major seat in Islamabad.

Gill took to his Twitter account and said that 7 votes have been rejected indefinitely. There is a difference of 5 votes.

Gill announced as an initial response to the result of the polling that he would challenge the outcome now.

According to reports, during the Senate elections today, PPP’s Yousuf Raza Gilani defeated PTI’s, Hafeez Sheikh.

It may be recalled that voting took place in the National Assembly on the general seat of Islamabad in which the opposition candidate former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani was declared the winner.

Re-voting was held by the PTI government but Gillani remained victorious in re-voting too.

Yousuf Raza Gilani defeated Hafeez Sheikh by five votes and was elected Senator from Islamabad.
