Harry Potter 20th anniversary: The UK film locations!
UK: The Harry Potter Franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary by filming the locations where the shootings had occured.
In November 2001, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film hit the big screens and was released in cinemas worldwide and making a huge hit within fans of all ages. Obviously, more than one locations were used to adapt the award-winning fantasy novels into films.
The numerous locations included cathedrals, a castle and places of historic interest across England which soon became very famous.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is actually a mixture of many historic sites including Durham Cathedral’s ancient cloisters in the franchise’s first big screen outing. The cathedral’s Chapter House was used as the location of Professor McGonagall’s transfiguration classroom scenes.
In order to celebrate the anniversary, fans are given the chance to visit on Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00 GMT and experience the feeling of being a part of their favorite movie.
In 2010, Harry Potter – Daniel Radcliffe, Hagrid and Robbie Coltrane showed up in the city to film the dramatic chase scene in The Deathly Hallows Part One.
