‘Harry Potter’ author J.K. Rowling receives death threats

Nov 23, 2021: Author of “Harry Potter” J.K. Rowling said Monday she had received a flood of death threats as she criticized three transgender rights activists who posted her home address on Twitter.

Rowling thanked police in Scotland for their support on Friday when activists tweeted a picture of him standing outside Rowling’s home in Edinburgh, showing her address. Rowling said she and other women who have spoken out on gender issues have been subjected to “campaigns of intimidation and stalking,” but vowed not to be silenced.

The 56-year-old author said she had received “so many death threats that she could paper the walls with them”, and that transgender activists “put families in a state of fear and anxiety”. ” “Perhaps … the best way to prove that your movement is not a threat to women is to stop stalking, harassing and threatening us.”

A Scotland Police spokesman said the force was “aware of the incident” and that the inquiry was “ongoing”. The three activists had closed their Twitter accounts by Monday.

In her posts on Monday, Rowling said she was “appalled” to hear from various women who talked about transgender issues, including those who have no public profile, and receive abuse, including threats of rape.
