Has Pakistan’s ‘value’ taken a hit internationally?
When Taliban took over Afghanistan, the then Prime Minister Imran Khan gave out a shout of joy stating that “the Taliban had broken the “shackles of slavery” by toppling the Western-backed Afghan government.” (January 13, 2022, Radio Free Europe). The ramifications of this event for Pakistan were not fully understood by most.
The new developments in the Middle East; first Saudi Arab’s diplomatic reconnect with Iran courtesy China and then their reconnect with Syria though Russia are a game changer. Though Pakistan is the indirect beneficiary of reproachment between Saudi Arab & Iran-both these developments brought a huge negative fallout effect for Pakistan that most analysts fail in grasping.

The multipolar world order had arrived!
For Pakistan this means, the Eastern Pivot no longer exists. Pakistan geographically may be strategically placed however, the drastic developments happening at a record pace have changed priorities and interests of nations.
What it signifies is that the world has moved on to issues of bigger nature, the Eastern Pivot has been overtaken by the Middle East Pivot. Pakistan/Afghanistan is no longer a focus of interest for the world. Pakistan & her interests are relegated to the sub-text. Pakistan needs to understand this & recalibrate its relationship with Washington, understanding that we have lost their strategic interest.
What one can only find absurd in the present geopolitical situation is the divorce of PTI with core ground realties. Hiring a PR firm for $25,000 per month, pitching for improving its estranged relationship with the Biden administration- will probably not deliver.

Brad Sherman, wrote a letter to Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, related to the alleged “political victimization” of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
PR firms can do so much only. After that, international focus, a nation’s strategies, their understanding of dynamics of another country, parties and leaders, and other variables come into play. (In this case US). I doubt, they will be at this point or in near future, be interested in wasting their energies in Pakistan, particularly in case of Mr Khan who at one point left no stone unturned to prove that Washington was involved in the conspiracy to bring about his government’s downfall.
US will not interfere until & unless their stakes are involved.
