Hindutva mob sets Madrassa on fire, vandalizes property of Muslims in Bihar
India: Hindutva mob set a Madrassa (Islamic seminary) on fire and vandalized a mosque and properties of Muslims during the Hindu festival Ram Navmi in Biharsharif city in Nalanda district of the Indian state of Bihar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a procession of a Hindutva group marched through the town and vandalized the property of Muslims on Friday and also set ablaze a Hotel, owned by a Muslim, reports said.
A mob of around 500 people attacked a mosque with stones on Friday noon injuring at least two people. As Muslims retaliated to these attacks, the Hindu mobs set on fire Hotel City Palace, a business owned by a Muslim. The mob also burnt several vehicles.
The Hindutva goons also torched an Islamic seminary – Madrasa Azizia – during the violence. As per reports, about 4500 Quran and other books were burnt in the madrasa.
The violence by the Hindutva mob led to the tension in the area, forcing the authorities to suspend internet for two days.
Several such incidents have been reported from across India including the Sasaram area of Bihar.
