ISLAMABAD, July 24 (Online): FIA has presented its report in Supreme Court (SC) regarding the case pertaining to forensic audit of housing societies.
FIA reports says all the zonal headquarters were directed to complete inquiries of 279 out of 667 cooperative housing societies in the country till June 30. Letter has been sent to finalize report of pending inquiries till July 15. Advocate generals of federation and all the four provinces have been directed to launch criminal proceedings against the illegal housing societies.
The report further said case has been registered against former management of Civilian Employees Cooperative Housing Society under anti money laundering act. The accused Muhammad Nawaz along with armed men put up resistance against FIA team and made good escape. 8 accused persons including Muhammad Nawaz have been granted bail before arrest by the court.
Therefore, it is requested to SC to provide protection to FIA team. Non registered provincial cooperative housing societies don’t come under the ambit of FIA. A committee comprising provincial law officers be constituted to introduce amendments in cooperative laws besides directing the federal government to issue notification forthwith regarding implementation of act. A central agency be set up at federal or provincial level which could take action against the housing societies all over the country.
It was further told in the report bill related to real estate act has been presented in Senate.
In the report request has been made for initiation of criminal proceedings against government employees involved in illegal housing societies.
The court has been prayed to provide guidelines for launching action against the cooperative housing societies which fall in provincial limits.
