IG Punjab nods no to approbation of CCPO Lahore remarks in motorway incident

LAHORE, Sep 12 (Online): Inspector General IG Punjab Inam Ghani on Saturday nodded no  approbation of  the  remarks expressed by  Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh on the Lahore motorway rape incident. According to media reports he underlined that  in “no way the victim can be blamed for the horrific event”, IG Punjab said: “The guard cannot tell the owner of the house to protect their belongings themselves.” Dubbing the CCPOs statement inappropriate  Law Minister Punjab  Raja Basharat has  maintained that he does not approve or agree with whatever the CCPO had earlier said. In his remarks, the CCPO had said  why the woman took the route to travel and  she should have checked her petrol tank before getting on the said route.
