Forest Secretary Capt. Asif said that promotion and protection of forests are top priorities. Model forests are being created under Sarsabz Pakistan Waitran. Secretary Forests Punjab Captain (Retd) Muhammad Asif presided over the review meeting of the Forest Department in which issues related to forestry and tree planting were discussed. The meeting also discussed most of the points of the new forest policy and also considered the strategy for immediate implementation of some points.  The Forest Secretary said that the Forest Department was taking practical steps for the promotion and protection of forests in Punjab. In the light of the directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, systematic steps are being taken across Punjab to curb poaching and deforestation. In this regard, the penalties for timber theft and illegal logging have been tightened. He said that after the approval of forest policy in the last cabinet meeting, the process of protection and monitoring of forests has been further tightened.  He directed the Forest Department teams and other local staff to take emergency measures by expanding the monitoring network and He stressed on the need to focus on afforestation and afforestation and emergency measures to reduce the impact of environmental pollution.  Captain Muhammad Asif said that … Continue reading Illegal loggers will not get away this time!
