Implementation of the Compulsory Services Act in PIA
The Compulsory Services Act has been implemented in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for the repatriation of Pakistanis stranded abroad amid coronavirus.
According to the notification, the Act will come into force immediately and will remain for the next six months. Moreover, the purpose of the Act is to ensure uninterrupted PIA flights and work out special flights operation to bring back stranded Pakistanis from around the world.

As soon as the Act comes into force, no employee will be able to refuse their duty and in case of violation, legal action will be taken.

The national flag carrier has so far successfully evacuated around 27,000 people to their homes. However, thousands of people are still stranded in various countries awaiting their turn for repatriation.
