There has been a lot of hue & cry in Pakistani media, regarding a blog by Aynur Bashirova in The Times of Israel. She writes, “There have been reports suggesting that Imran Khan sent messages to Israeli officials through the Goldsmith family, signaling a potential willingness to consider normalizing relations between Pakistan and Israel and his willingness to moderate the religious discourse in Pakistan.”
This writer believes politics is driven by economics. The global dynamics are undergoing a change. Saudi Arabia & Israel were close to reaching an agreement that would have opened a new block for cooperation in economic trade. Many other nations particularly the Middle Eastern nations would have followed suit. Pakistan would have been left out had it continued to tow the line of anti-Israel.

The issue is, when a leader uses a channel to gain support politically internally and externally, has to then take decisions at different levels that can compromise the better interests of the country he or she serves.
Let us here, draw a parallel with campaign funding of U.S President’s candidates. Lobbying for selected candidates is usually looked upon with displeasure by the average American. They term it as influence peddling or bribery. After all, there is nothing as a free lunch.
The second unsavory angle is the duplicity in the handling. During his term as Prime Minister Mr. Khan has supported in no uncertain terms, that there will never be any normalization of terms with Israel as long as the Palestinian issue remained unresolved. He has always strongly condemned the genocide in Gaza.

If one recalls in 2022, the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Ikrama Sabri has termed Prime Minister Imran Khan as leader of the Muslim Ummah. In 2023 he had tried to convince that the international community to support the new Taliban government. He had also relocated Taliban fighters in tribal districts with the help of the Afghan Taliban. However, he could not relocate greater numbers as the rest of the provinces were not cooperative & for good reason.
Having taken a stance on Muslim Ummah & Israel- this piece comes as a shocker. Our people have an inbuilt mechanism for fundamentalism. The issue however is, should a leader work in direct contradiction behind the scene against a publicly declared policy?

Imran Khan is perhaps the most unpredictable politician Pakistan has produced since its inception.
Whatever he says he mostly act against it and that is why he is nicknamed as UTURN KHAN.
In today’s The Express Tribune Turkish prime minster made a statement in order to defeat Israel
Muslim countries must be united. Whole West is behind Israel, but Muslim countries are disunited
resultantly countless poor Palestinians massacred. Imran Khan can do anything for fulfilling
his nefarious designs and ulterior motives. Hell to politicians of Muslim countries who are
seeing ethnic cleansing of poor Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir etc.
