Imran Khan cipher case: Special duty judge extends IK remand till Sept 13

Special Court Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain has reached Attock Jail to begin the trial of former Prime Minister Imran Khan arrested in the cipher case under the Official Secrets Act.
On the other hand, Imran Khan’s legal team is present at the gate of Attock Jail. Imran Khan’s legal team includes Barrister Salman Safdar, Barrister Gohar Khan, Barrister Umair Niazi, Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry Advocate and Panjotha Brothers.
According to the information received so far, the jail authorities are not allowing Imran Khan’s team of lawyers to enter.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain extended the judicial remand of Imran Khan for another 14 days, Chairman PTI’s judicial remand was extended till September 13.
A member of the legal team has told V News that they have been in touch with the prison authorities since the night, they have been standing at the door since morning, but the legal team is not being allowed to appear in the court held in the prison.
According to the legal team, the jail authorities have allowed only one lawyer to enter, but Barrister Salman Safdar has asked to appear with the legal team instead of appearing in the court alone.
“Allowing only one lawyer to enter without a legal team is tantamount to sabotaging the requirements of fair trial.”
