The Islamabad High Court Thursday granted 14-day protective bail to PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in connection with the murder case of senior Supreme Court lawyer Abdul Razzak Shar in Quetta.

A two-judge bench led by IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard Imran Khan’s bail application on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the PTI chairman filed the application in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for protective bail, pleading the court to fix the petition for hearing today.

The PTI chairman was nominated in the murder case of lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar yesterday.

The lawyer had been shot dead by unidentified suspects at Quetta Airport a day before yesterday.

The son of Abdul Razzaq Shar, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Quetta on Tuesday, had registered a case against PTI chief Imran Khan and alleged that his father was killed at the latter’s behest.

Meanwhile, the government and the PTI had traded blame over the incident, with both sides accusing the other of having a role in the killing.

Prime minister’s aide Attaullah Tarar had alleged that the lawyer was killed at the behest of Imran to allegedly evade accountability in a treason case while PTI spokesperson Raoof Hassan had accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah of being behind the murder.
