Imran Khan welcomed by mixed slogans at Baba Farid’s shrine

PAKPATTAN: Slogans of ‘chor, chor!’ were echoed when former Prime Minister Imran Khan disembarked from his car to enter the shrine of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin Masood Ganj Shakar on Wednesday.

The slogans are believed to be a public reaction to the recent Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) damning verdict on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf foreign funding case.

The suit was filed by one of PTI’s own founding members, Akbar S. Babar in 2014. 8 years after, the ECP finally announced its verdict on the case, declaring that the party received “prohibited” funding.

The ruling also established that the party had concealed a total of 16 accounts and that the Chairman PTI Imran Khan had submitted a false affidavit in this regard.

While some segments of the crowd raised slogans against Imran Khan, PTI workers present at the scene immediately started raising slogans in support of their chairman.

Imran Khan offered fateha at the Bahishti Darwaza and afterwards, PTI leader Dewan Azmat Syed Muhammad Chishti performed the Dastarbandi of his chairman, a tradition to honor a guest.

A huge number of PTI supporters reached the shrine to welcome Imran Khan and catch a glimpse of their leader.
