LAHORE: Indian Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has said that Imran Khan is a sensible man who has taken positive steps.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said that European countries consolidated their currency after the war, today Euro is one of the strongest currencies in the world. The Silk Road goes through 34 countries and is a major trade route. Mutual trade between Pakistan and India was restored till 2019. There was a time when Samjhauta Express was also running. Imran Khan and Modi are requested to open all avenues, I wish that the people of both countries can come and go freely. Revolutionary Prime Ministers can change the fate of the region, we must take steps to bridge the gap. The market is bigger in Pakistan than anywhere else. Trade will benefit Pakistan and India.

Earlier, Indian Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu arrived in Kartarpur to attend the celebrations of the 552nd birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak. It is to be noted that celebrations are going on for the 552nd birth anniversary of Sikh religious leader Babaji Guru Nanak in which Sikh pilgrims from other countries including India and Pakistan, are also coming. The government of Pakistan has issued visas to 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India. Religious rites of the Sikh community are being performed at Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday celebrations in Kartarpur.

Accompanied by Navjot Singh Sidhu, a delegation of the Sikh community has also reached Kartarpur. On arrival at Kartarpur, Navjot Singh Sadhu and the delegation of the Sikh community were given a hearty welcome, and garlands of flowers were laid. Sadhu was received by Sardar Amir Singh, Chairman of Kartarpur Project Management Unit and Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Ramesh Singh Arora MPA.

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sadhu will perform religious rites in Kartarpur. This is his second visit after the inauguration of Kartarpur in 2019. Earlier, Sadhu had visited Kartarpur in late 2019 when he was formally invited by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Indian Punjab Chief Minister Charan Jait Singh accompanied the delegation.

It may be recalled that India had closed the Kartarpur corridor on March 16, 2020, due to the coronavirus, which was reopened 18 months later at the request of the Sikh community.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken several steps to facilitate Sikh pilgrims, including the historic inauguration of the Visa-Free Kartarpur Sahib Corridor on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s 550th Birthday in November 2019. The newly constructed Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib Complex And his leadership is a gift to the Sikh community in India and around the world.
