In a first, PIA’s Dubai to Skardu International Airport flight lands successfully
Skardu International Airport has officially begun its international flight operations, with the region witnessing the triumphant arrival of the inaugural flight at 8:51 am. This marks the start of a transformative chapter for both Skardu and Pakistan’s aviation landscape.
Skardu has become an international airport as PIA’s first international flight PK 234 from Dubai landed in Skardu.
After the landing of the flight, Skardu got the status of an international airport.
With the launch of these flights, the national airline PIA achieved another honor and introduced Skardu to the entire world.
Tourists will be able to enjoy the breathtaking views of Jannat Nazir Gilgit-Baltistan on an international flight
During the flight, tourists will also get to see beautiful views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains including K-To and Nanga Parbat.
PIA’s weekly flights from Dubai to Skardu will play an important role in promoting tourism in the northern regions of Pakistan.
Tourists will now be able to reach Skardu by a three-and-a-half-hour direct flight from Dubai
A simple but solemn ceremony was organized at Skardu Airport.
The passengers were welcomed by PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Vice Marshal Amir Hayat, senior civil aviation officials and other political and social personalities and government officials.
Gilgit-Baltistan traditional hats and gifts were distributed among the passengers.
The aircraft was also presented with a water cannon salute by the airport authorities on arrival. The captain of the ship opened the cockpit window and hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Independence Day
The successful culmination of diligent efforts and meticulous planning is evident as the new runway welcomed its first international flight, establishing a significant precedent for the progress of the region.
In a statement from the National Operation and Maintenance Company (Notim), the green light for operationalization was given, sparking excitement and a sense of accomplishment among aviation enthusiasts and stakeholders.
