Lahore, 21st March, 6:45 PM: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced he will support Maryam Nawaz during her hearing with NAB.
Baaghi TV: According to reports, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Sunday that during PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s hearing on March 26 with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the opposition alliance will be present with her in a show of solidarity.
According to reports, the two leaders addressed the press meeting in Lahore following a meeting between them which was also attended by Hamza Shehbaz, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab.
Maulana said, “The apparent reasons told by NAB have exposed the bureau for the puppet institution it is. It has approached the court for the cancellation of Maryam’s bail on the basis that she speaks against institutions. So the institution has been formed not to battle corruption but to serve other institutions.”
Fazlur Rehman added that when Maryam will appear before NAB on Friday, all of the PDM’s workers and leaders will be right there with her.
He also said that there will not be hundreds but thousands of PDM supporters with Maryam Nawaz on March 26.
PDM chief said that it will be decided later who among the leaders will be present, but nonetheless, we will be there and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with her.
It is to be noted that Maryam Nawaz has been summoned by the NAB regarding two cases, the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case and another case of purchase of land in Raiwind.
When asked about the differences that have reportedly emerged between PPP and PML-N, Fazlur Rehman denied the reports of a rift.
He said, “PDM is not only united but with mutual consultations, we have matters under control. We all have to move forward. The nine parties that have a particular ideology will request the PPP to respect their viewpoint.”
The PDM chief also informed that the alliance will wait for the outcome of the PPP’s Central Executive Committee meeting, which will take place in the first week of April. He said that they are willing to review the recommendations by PPP so that the alliance can move ahead effectively.
