The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy have claimed conducting a maiden flight trial of a sea-based interceptor missile off the coast of Odisha state.

The purpose of the trial in Bay of Bengal, was to engage and neutralize a hostile ballistic missile threat, India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) report said.

DRDO demonstrated land-based BMD system with the capability to neutralize ballistic missile threats.
