Six days after Pakistan decided to shut its airspace to all flights owned and operated by Indian carriers, New Delhi has announced a reciprocal move by shutting down its airspace to all Pakistan owned and operated planes.
The move comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 tourists were gunned down.
The airspace closure will be in effect from April 30 to May 23, 2025.
With India now officially restricting its airspace, Pakistani airlines will be forced to take longer routes through countries such as China or Sri Lanka to reach Southeast Asian destinations like Kuala Lumpur, officials said.
