India deploys 2000 additional BSF troops in Jammu

India has deployed two additional battalions of the paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF), previously assigned to conduct anti-Naxal operations in Odisha, in the Jammu region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, defense analysts see the deployment of over 2,000 BSF personnel as negation of the Modi regime’s claims of so-called normalcy after revocation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status on Augutst 5, 2019.

The newly arrived troops are positioned in depth areas, forming a “second line of defense” behind the BSF’s existing border deployment along the Working Boundary, officials said. These units, previously assigned to anti-Naxal operations in Odisha, have been strategically placed in vulnerable zones, including the Samba area and sections of the Jammu boundary.

The BSF has installed multiple surveillance points equipped with CCTV cameras. Logistical preparations are underway, including establishing temporary and permanent bases for the newly inducted personnel.

The focus on the Jammu area follows a series of attacks in Rajouri, Poonch and Kathua earlier this year.

The BSF’s increased presence highlights India’s commitment inability to quell the freedom sentiments in the occupied territory, the analysts added.
