June 29, 2021: According to the report of Baghi TV, a case has been registered against Twitter in India.
Twitter showed a map in which Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir were not shown as part of India. On this map, India found a skewer. Manish, the head of Twitter India, has also been named in the case. This is the second case registered against the head of Twitter India for disobeying India in just one month.
The map released by Twitter did not show Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh with India but as separate countries. The map was displayed in a section of Twitter on which Indian skewers were found and action was taken against Twitter. Tensions are already running high between the Indian government and Twitter over the new rules because the Indian Ministry of IT has made some new rules. Twitter has not followed these rules. India’s IT Minister Ravi Shankar and Parliamentary Committee Chairman Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s Twitter accounts were suspended for an hour.
Twitter also removed the blue tick from the Twitter handle of the leaders of the RSS, the terrorist wing of India’s ruling BJP, which India had protested. A week ago, the Standing Committee on Information of the Indian Parliament had also summoned the Indian administration on Twitter and asked tough questions on non-compliance with Indian laws. Officials from the Indian Ministry of Information were also present at the two-hour meeting. India’s ruling BJP MPs Rajya Vardhan Rathore, Syed Zafar Islam and Nishikant Dubey have questioned the alleged non-compliance with the new rules. Committee members told officials that Twitter still complies with the rules.
Although not above Indian law, the meeting was attended by Public Policy Manager Shagufta Kamran and Legal Adviser Ayushi Kapoor on behalf of Twitter.
