According to the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBC), India has refused to grant visas to the Pakistan Blind Cricket Team for the Blind T-20 Cricket World Cup to be held in India from December 5 to 17, 2022.
Pakistan was a strong contender to win the Blind World Cup as Pakistan had finished runners-up twice in the first two editions of the format (2012 and 2017).
According to PBC, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the clearance of Pakistani players on political grounds. India’s discrimination against Pakistani cricketers is condemnable.
The Pakistan Blind Cricket Council says that sports should be above politics and all teams should have equal opportunities in sports events for disabled people.
PBC says the Indian government has also violated the United Nations Charter for Persons with Disabilities.
