India vs Sri Lanka 2023 Asia Cup cricket final

India and Sri Lanka team reached the Colombo stadium for much-awaited Asia Cup 2023 cricket world cup final. 

The Asia Cup, which began in 1984, has yet to see a final between India and Pakistan in its 15 iterations.

Organisers more than make up for it by ensuring both teams play each other as many times as possible, sometimes over two days, in order to keep the crowds and sponsors happy.

Speaking of crowds, it will not be surprising to find spot Pakistan shirts in the stands as some of their fans who spoke to Al Jazeera said they would stay for the final as they had already bought match tickets with the hope of seeing their team reach it.

Former India captain MS Dhoni may have retired four years ago but his fan base is still going strong.

Alakshendra Singh, a long-time Dhoni admirer, has got the legend’s image tattooed on his arm.

“He is the greatest ever,” Singh says of India’s World Cup-winning captain.

“But today, I’m here to support Team India,” he adds.

Singh, from India’s capital New Delhi, arrived in Colombo in the morning and says he’s not going back without the Asia Cup trophy.

“India is taking home the Asia Cup and Virat Kohli will be our biggest player today.”
