The Indian Army has become a hotbed of corruption as officers have forgotten their responsibilities and are busy filling their bank accounts.
Numerous officers in the Indian Army, ranging from generals to majors, are involved in embezzlement. Officers above the rank of colonel embezzle funds by exploiting their positions.
Between 2000 and 2023, over 1,800 cases of corruption were reported in the Indian Army, while 72 officers were also found involved in the illegal sale of 9mm guns and 30 bolt-action rifles.
According to a CBI report, 17 Indian military officers were found guilty of accepting bribes to recruit new soldiers. Three Air Marshals of the Indian Air Force have also been court-martialed in connection with a corruption scandal involving $20 billion.
