Indian authorities move people to safety ahead of another cyclone ‘Yaas’
Lahore, 2th May: After the threat of another severe cyclone in India, the authorities have started moving more than a million people to safety on the east coast. According to reports, after the dreadful Cyclone Tauktae wreaked havoc in India, another cyclone, Yaas is expected to reach the east coast of the country, the officials reported on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that Cyclone Yaas will emerge from the Bay of Bengal and would enter the eastern states of Odisha and West Bengal, and also Bangladesh, on Wednesday. IMD chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra told Reuters over the telephone conversation that Cyclone Yaas is likely to cause large-scale damage. Soon after the announcement, the authorities in India began displacing the people in cars and boats from low-lying coastal areas to take shelter at government buildings, schools, and other strong buildings. Fishermen have been advised to shift their boats to safety inland prior to the Cyclone. Pregnant women and children have been sent to government hospitals for their safety.
