Bollywood queen Kangana Ranaut, who recently bagged India’s most prestigious award Padma Shri, has come under fire for her controversial statements, which have been the subject of several lawsuits against her.
According to recent reports, the Bollywood diva has likened the 1947 Independence to beggary, forcing Indian citizens to take to the streets in protest against her.
In an interview to Indian channel Times Now two days ago, actress Kangana Ranaut said in response to a question that India got real independence in 2014 after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power. The independence we got in 1947 was like begging.

After this statement of the actress, the Indian fire has become a whirlwind. Leaders of the National Student Union of India protested against Kangana Ranaut outside her house and chanted slogans.
They have said that they are shocked by the statement of the actress. Kangana Ranaut has insulted those who died in the war of Independence, we do not understand why Prime Minister Narendra Modi awarded Padma Shri to Kangana Ranaut, we demand immediate withdrawal of the award from Kangana Ranaut, they claim.
Opposition party Congress and some government leaders, on the other hand, are also outraged by the actress’ statement. Delhi-based BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor has demanded legal action against Kangana Ranaut.
Praveen Shankar said in his statement that as a child of those who died in the war of independence, I think that Kangana Ranaut’s statement regarding begging for independence in 1947 is an insult to those who died in the war, they should be prosecuted.
