Indian Congress on Sunday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, accusing him of not standing up to China despite its hostile actions against India.
The grand old party mocked PM Modi for greeting Xi with a warm handshake despite repeated Chinese provocations. The criticism came after the two leaders held talks on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjing.
“China took the lives of our 20 brave soldiers in the Galwan Valley. During Indo-Pak war, China was openly supporting Pakistan. China provided live updates to Pakistan,” the Congress posted in HIndi on X.
“In response to these nefarious actions by China, Narendra Modi took strict measures. He shook hands with the Chinese President with a smile,” it added sarcastically.
