For the past two months, Indian farmers have been protesting in various cities across the country against three new controversial agricultural laws.

According to the Times of India, Samyukat Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is leading the protest, told a press conference in New Delhi that under its proposed program to intensify the protest, the turban would be removed on February 23rd. February 24th will be observed as Anti-Daman Day, which aims to send a message to the government that farmers should be respected in all circumstances and no repressive measures should be taken against them.

Morcha said that February 6th will be celebrated as Yuva Kisan Dawas (Day of Young Farmers) and February 27th as Mazdoor-Kisan Ekta Dawas (Day of Farmers-Workers Union). Farmers leader Yogendra Yadav said, “The government is taking all repressive measures, including arrests, detentions and cases against protesters, and is creating chaos.”

“The Singho border is being guarded and it looks like an international border,” he said. He said that in the light of the March 8 session of Parliament, the farmers’ movement would be considered for a long run and the strategy would be shared at the next SKM meeting.
