Indian forces have begun massive stocking of ration, winter clothing, high-altitude tents and fuel, as they get ready for a long stay in Ladakh before the winter sets in. The winter preparations this time comes amid the months-long military tussle with China in eastern Ladakh. Sources said stocking of some essential items specifically aimed at braving the harsh winter had been done enough to last a year, given the enhanced troop deployment in Ladakh over the last four months. “Our logistic infrastructure is smartly built in a manner that any formation coming from outside, in ‘Plug & Play’ mode, can join the units here seamlessly and be effective. Today, each jawan deputed at the frontline has state-of-the-art winter clothing and tentage,” said Maj Gen Arvind Kapur, Chief of Staff 14 Corps based in Leh. He said each officer, Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and jawan is given the best quality ration, which is highly nutritional and has high calorific value. “Today, the troops deputed in eastern Ladakh have positively also impacted the local economy,” he said.
