Indian forces intensify crackdown, raid houses, Islamic institutes in Kashmir

Indian police and paramilitary forces carried out cordon-and-search operations and raids targeting members of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic educational institutes across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The raids were conducted in Islamabad, Pulwama, Budgam, Kulgam and Kupwara districts. Officials said the raids targeted residential premises and other locations linked to Jamaat members and associates. Electronic devices, documents and literature were seized from the houses of individuals linked to the Jamaat and associated institutions. The forces’ personnel conducted raids at Jamia Sirajul Uloom in the Hilo area of Imam Sahib, Shopian district, and Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora, Handwara, Kupwara district, under draconian laws. Authorities have linked the institutions with the Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
