Indian forces kill 12 people in Maharashtra

Indian forces personnel during an operation killed 12 people in Maharashtra state of India.

At least 12 people, including Laxman Atram alias Vishal Atram were killed by Indian police and paramilitary commandos in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra near the Chhattisgarh border.

The Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police, Nilotpal, dubbing the victims as Naxalites, has claimed that a heavy exchange of fire broke out between C60 commandos and Naxals at Wandoli village and continued for six hours,

Naxalites were killed and two personnel were injured in an encounter with police and commandos in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra near the Chhattisgarh border, Indian officials claimed.

Maharashtra Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a Rs 51 lakh reward for C60 commando teams and Gadchiroli Police, police officer Nilotpal said.

Pertinently, the Indian BJP government and its establishment have declared the lower class community, mostly belong to tribal peoples, villagers and Dalits [formerly untouchables]), and Communist Party of India Maoist (CPI-M) as Naxalites or Naxals who have notably more influence in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal—and their influence has spread even wider beyond those areas who are demanding justice and an independent state.
