In a heartwarming example of cross-border love, a wedding between an Indian groom and a Pakistani bride took place online due to visa issues, showcasing how bonds between people remain strong despite the borders between India and Pakistan. The unique wedding occurred in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, where the son of a BJP leader married a bride from Lahore, Pakistan.

The groom, Mohammad Abbas Haider, son of BJP leader Tehseen Shahid, was engaged to Andleeb Zahra, a relative living in Lahore. The family had applied for a visa to travel to Pakistan for the wedding, but as the wedding date approached, the visa had not been granted. This caused concern, especially as the bride’s mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, fell seriously ill and was admitted to an ICU in Lahore.

To overcome the obstacle, Tehseen Shahid decided to conduct the wedding online. On Friday night, with hundreds of wedding guests gathered at Imambada Kallu Marhoom in Jaunpur, the couple’s wedding was officiated by religious clerics from both countries through video conferencing. The bride’s family similarly gathered in Lahore to witness the ceremony.

Though the nikah has been completed, the groom, Mohammad Abbas Haider, now awaits his bride’s arrival in India. Following the ceremony, Haider expressed his hope that the visa for his bride would be issued soon so that she can join him in India.

The wedding was attended by several prominent figures from Jaunpur, including BJP MLC Brajesh Singh Prishu, who congratulated the groom’s family. The event was celebrated by hundreds of guests on both sides, demonstrating that love knows no borders, even when faced with logistical challenges.

The groom’s family has now appealed to authorities to expedite the visa process so that the bride can soon be reunited with her husband in India.
