Indian journalist arrested for providing sensitive information to Chinese intelligence

According to Baaghi TV, Delhi Police have arrested Rajiv Sharma, an Indian commentator, columnist and freelance journalist, on charges of passing sensitive information to Chinese intelligence.

According to the Indian News Agency, Delhi Police has recovered important documents related to the Indian Ministry of Defense from the custody of Rajiv Sharma. He had written an article for China’s Global Times News Agency. Delhi police has also arrested Chinese woman King Xi and Nepali national Sher Singh, who are accused of providing large sums of money to a journalist.

 

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav has said that Rajiv Sharma has been arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on charges of passing sensitive information on national defense to Chinese intelligence. Rajiv Sharma has been in police custody for six days, while his decision on the bail application has been reserved in the Patiala House court.

According to the news agency, the Chinese intelligence agency had given Rajiv Sharma the job of providing sensitive information in exchange for money. The special cell has arrested Rajiv Sharma from his house in Patampura under the Official Secrets Act. Police claim that some top secret documents have been recovered from Rajiv. According to police, further investigation is underway after which more details will be revealed.
