KOLKATA: Indian Minister Amit Shah has stated that non-Muslim refugees will get citizenship before the citizen registry.

According to details, the leader of Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amit Shah has announced that the government plans to revive a bill that would give non-Muslim refugees citizenship before the citizen registry.

While talking to rally in Kolkata, Amit Shah said “The Government would give “Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh and Christian settlers citizenship,” He further said “Non-Muslim refugees would get citizenship before a controversial citizen registry.”

Reportedly, the Citizenship Amendment Bill would grant citizenship to non-Muslim refugees from countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan who have resided in India for at least six years.
