India, 11th May: Thousands of poor city migrants whose livelihoods have collapsed due to India’s coronavirus measures headed back to their villages, raising fears that the exodus could carry the virus to the countryside.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, many Indians are fleeing India’s largest city and the economic powerhouse after the pandemic erupted in the country.
As per videos surfacing the social media, people are seen leaving Mumbai city in auto-rickshaws and heading towards their villages.
After the lockdown imposed in the country, the labour class and daily wagers of the Mumbai city had to face the economic shock pushing them to leave for family homes where they typically do not pay rent and food is cheaper.
However, it may be noted that the lockdown in India is still continuing, Narendra Modi has extended the lockdown till the 17th of May.
People in Mumbai have taken desperate measures and are seen leaving in large numbers. People are seen leaving in auto-rickshaws as the public transport is shut down due to the prevention from the spread of the coronavirus.

In another video, it is also observed an Indian police officer is charging some ladies on leaving the place. The women are seen with their luggage packed to leave for their villages in the time of the coronavirus crisis and lockdown in the city.
An Indian police officer catches them and is seen taking advantage of their situation. He is taking money from each of them to let them flee from the city.
Such are the conditions in the Indian city of Mumbai, where people are not following the government directive of staying indoor. The economic crunch has made it hard for the poor class to meet their both ends meet while staying in the most expensive city, which has led them to flee to their villages. The policemen are taking advantage of this and filling their own pockets.
It may be noted that the number of coronavirus cases in the Mumbai Metropolitan region has reached up to 14,648 patients and 497 COVID-19 deaths have been reported so far.
