India's possible attack on "Darbar Sahib", strongly condemned by World Sikh Parliament | Baaghi TV

The World Sikh Parliament has strongly condemned the possible attack on the holiest place of the Sikhs, “Darbar Sahib” in Amritsar, by India in an emergency statement.

The organization said that India is plotting to attack the Darbar Sahib in the context of the Indo-Pak war, just like what was done under “Operation Blue Star” in June 1984. The Indian government is planning to target the spiritual center of the Sikh community by taking advantage of the tension and war atmosphere in the region.

The World Sikh Parliament has appealed to the United Nations, international human rights organizations and the international community for immediate intervention, saying that any attack on the Darbar Sahib will not only hurt the sentiments of the Sikh nation but will also lead to a sharp increase in sectarianism and violence in the region.

It should be remembered that the Darbar Sahib (also known as the Golden Temple) is the holiest place of the Sikh religion located in Amritsar, Indian Punjab. In June 1984, the Indian Army carried out a major military operation here called “Operation Blue Star” in which hundreds of devotees were killed. This incident still leaves a deep wound in the hearts of Sikhs.

The World Sikh Parliament further said that if the Indian government tries to violate the sanctity of Darbar Sahib, the Sikh community around the world will react strongly. The statement demanded that international observers be allowed to immediately assess the situation at Darbar Sahib and its surroundings so that possible aggression by Indian forces can be exposed.
