2nd February 2021: Myanmar closes its international airport after the military took over the country.

Baaghi TV: Myanmar has closed its international airport in Yangon on Tuesday.

According to reports from the airport’s manager, the international airport gets closed a day after the country’s army staged a coup.

Yangon airport manager Phone Myint told Reuters that the airport has been closed until May but gave no exact date.

The Myanmar Times newspaper reported that permission to land and take-off has been cancelled for all flights, including relief flights, until 23:59 of May 31.

A senior official from detained Aung San Suu Kyi’s party informed that he had learned her health was good and was not being moved from the location where she was being detained after a coup against her government.

The whereabouts and condition of Myanmar’s elected leader have not been made public since she was held in the capital Naypyidaw by the military during the coup on Monday.

Kyi Toe, a member of the National League for Democracy’s (NLD) central information committee in a Facebook post informed, “There is no plan to move Daw Aung San Su Kyi and Doctor Myo Aung. It’s learned that they are in good health.”

He also posted that NLD members of parliament detained during the coup were being allowed to leave the quarters where they had been held.

However, it was not clear how he obtained the information.

It is to be noted that Suu Kyi, Myanmar President Win Myint and other NLD leaders had been taken in the early hours of Monday morning.

The army said it had carried out the detentions after fraud in elections. Their military has handed power to military chief Min Aung Hlaing, who has imposed a state of emergency for one year in the country.
