The Haryana government in India on Friday issued an order whereby internet services in 14 districts have been shut down till 5pm on January 30, taking the number of districts with internet shut down to 17. The order said the shutdown would be implemented with immediate effect.

The 14 districts are: Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat, Hisar, Jind, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, Rewari and Sirsa.

As per the order, only voice calls will be allowed in these areas.

The Haryana government had earlier suspended internet services in Sonipat, Palwal and Jhajjar.

The shutdown orders come in the wake of the ongoing farmers’ protest in Delhi and adjoining states.
