Iranian Foreign Minister calls on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa

Dec 20, 2021: Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Sunday and discussed security-related issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly neighbours with shared history, culture and religion. “Defence collaboration between the two countries has been strengthening over the years,” the ISPR quoted Gen Qamar as saying.
“Geo-strategic environment particularly situation in Afghanistan, defence and security cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Pak-Iran border security mechanism also came under discussion,” the ISPR said in a statement.
Referring to the extraordinary meeting of the OIC, General Qamar described it as a historic step towards addressing the critical humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and bringing the international community to a common vision and common strategy to address emerging challenges in the region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s role in regional peace and its important role in this regard.
The military’s media wing said the two sides agreed to work together to enhance mutual cooperation, while working together to make positive progress in efforts to alleviate the challenges facing the region, especially the people of Afghanistan.
