Iran says U.S has to drop “unacceptable proposals” to avoid delay in agreement

Jan 28, 2022: As per a report by Reuters, Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB was hacked for 10 seconds on Thursday, state media reported, as the country was preparing for the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

“During a period of 10 seconds, the faces and voices of hypocrites appeared on (our) Channel One,” IRIB said, a phrase Iran’s clerical rulers use to refer to exiled opposition group People’s Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI).

The PMOI – also known as the Mujahideen People’s Organization (MKO) – presents itself as an alternative to Iran’s theocracy and is important within the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), an umbrella organization of the exiled opposition.

According to videos posted on social media, during the hack, pictures of MKO leaders Maryam and Masood Rajavi appeared on state TV and one person’s voice could be heard saying “Greetings to Rajavi, death to Ali Khamenei! “

According to videos posted on social media. Ali Dadi, deputy head of IRIB, said the case was being investigated. “Our colleagues are investigating the incident. This is a very complex attack and only those who have this technology can exploit and damage the features installed in the back doors and systems,” Dadi told state TV channel IRINN.

“There were similar disruptions in Quran Channel, Radio Jawan and Radio Payam,” he said, citing other state-run broadcasters.

In the past, the Islamic Republic has been the target of a series of cyber attacks, such as in October last year, which disrupted the sale of heavily subsidized petrol.

Iran has said it is on high alert for online attacks, which it blames on enemies the United States and Israel. Meanwhile, the United States and other Western powers have accused Iran of trying to disrupt its online networks. Iran will hold official ceremonies in early February to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of the revolution that overthrew US-backed King Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
