As a nation, we have become sick and obsessive. We live off a daily dose of what politicians say or do, what the media feeds us, and what we have been conditioned to accept. We have become so consumed with politics that we ignore the bigger picture.
The media feeds us what we want, and what we want is often more dirt and more crap. We accept it as our daily menu, rejecting anything else. Even when there is no substantial news, the media creates non-issues into issues. We absorb every nauseating bit of it.

We discuss issues with a frog-in-the-pond approach and keep hopping in our dirty pond. We need to broaden our perspective and see the vast world out there, full of painful issues that cry out for attention.
For example, in the last floods, 10 million people were destroyed, and people are still without food, clothes, and basic amenities. Then the floods struck again. Shahid Sattar, in an article, shares that over 75% of Pakistanis were affected by weather and climate-induced disasters in the past three decades, with an estimated economic loss of above US $29 billion (World Bank Group 2022). Why haven’t we seen this discussed in mainstream media or by the keyboard warriors?
We need to address the issues relegated to sub-text, as these are the real issues. We are wasting an inordinate amount of time on chaff!
In conclusion, we need to broaden our perspective and focus on the issues that matter. We need to look beyond politics and address the real problems affecting our nation. Let us not be a sick and obsessive nation, but one that is willing to see the bigger picture and work towards a better future.
