Islamabad Police Accused Of Violating Vienna Convention

The North Korean embassy in Pakistan has written a letter of protest to Pakistan’s foreign ministry and Inspector General (IG) Islamabad accusing Islamabad police of violating the Vienna Convention.

According to the details, the letter said that Shalimar police station entered through the back gate of the embassy on March 7, 2022, and harassed the embassy officials. The doors inside the embassy were also broken by the police personnel, said the text of the letter.

The North Korean embassy has demanded that action be taken against police officers violating the Vienna Convention.

The Vienna Convention is a multilateral treaty on diplomatic relations that was adopted at the Vienna Conference in April 1961 and has been signed by all countries of the world.

The Vienna Convention places the responsibility of protecting the life, property and honor of foreign ambassadors in any country on the host country. It also protects the residences of foreign ambassadors, their families, correspondence and mail.
