Islamophobia: Modi govt values elephant over a Muslim woman
Friday, June 5th: According to the report of Baaghi TV, a BJP member is wailing over the death of a pregnant elephant in India but is silent on the arrest of a Muslim student. It seems that animals are more important to the Modi government than Muslims.
The central government of the BJP government led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned the map of India in six years. Not every change has to be positive. Under the BJP rule, former Union Minister and animal rights activist Manika Gandhi and her party are raising their voices over the death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala, but a few months ago in the Indian national capital, Delhi. A female student has been jailed on charges of rioting even though she is four months pregnant and is constantly appearing in court for bail. The BJP is silent on this.
A Delhi court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Safura Zargar, a member of the Jamia Coordination Committee. Safura was arrested under the strict law UAPA in a riot case in north-east Delhi during a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in February.
Safura is an M.Phil student in Jamia Millia Islamia. Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana, while rejecting Safura’s bail plea, said that the conspiracy could be exposed during the investigation and if there was a conspiracy aspect in the background, then the actions and statements of any of the conspirators could be apprehended. Even if Safura is not found to be involved in any violence, she cannot escape her responsibility under the anti-social activities provisions.
During a video conferencing hearing, police told the court that Safura allegedly provoked the crowd with provocative speeches that led to the February riots. The Safura council claimed that it had been implicated in the case, adding that Safura was not at fault. There is no concrete evidence against Safura, yet the pregnant student has been kept in jail.
India’s ruling BJP is saddened by the death of a pregnant elephant, but no one is open about the imprisonment of innocent Safoor Zargar because he is a Muslim and oppression against Muslims has increased under Modi. Muslims are tortured.
