'Accidental fire' near Sialkot Garrison extinguished: ISPR

Feb 5, 2022: A statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday said that the clearance operation in Balochistan, which was launched after militants attacked security forces camps in Panjgur and Noshki areas of the province has been completed.

The army’s media wing said 20 terrorists were killed during the operations following the attacks, which began late Wednesday, adding that nine security personnel were martyred.

“Both attacks were repulsed successfully by prompt response from troops at both locations,” the ISPR said.

“All encircled terrorists were killed in today’s (Saturday) operation as they failed to surrender,” they added.

The statement said that nine terrorists were killed in Noshki while four security personnel, including an officer, were martyred during an exchange of fire with militants in the area. The statement said that security forces in Panjgur repulsed the terrorist attack after a fierce exchange of fire and the terrorists fled the area. “Security forces conducted a clearance operation to find the terrorists hiding in the surrounding areas,” the statement said.

The ISPR said that five soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were martyred and six others injured during follow-up operations in Panjgur during the last 72 hours.

The statement added that three terrorists linked to the attacks were also killed on Friday, including two high-value targets in Balgatar in Kech district, in a follow-up clearance operation. “Our security forces are steadfast and determined to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from our soil, no matter what the cost,” the statement said.
