In a result of an Israeli airstrike on a United Nations school in the Khan Yunis area, where a large number of Palestinian refugees had taken shelter, at least 29 Palestinians were killed.

The Gaza Ministry of Health stated that the school was a refuge for a large number of displaced Palestinians.

“He was at the Mutanabbi school with a number of residents, at the school gates, I would say it was targeted, but they (Israel) are targeting children, Israel was only successful with killing children, humans and demolishing buildings, but they did not beat the resistance, nor will they be able to. It was only able to beat stones (buildings) and trees and women and children, only civilians,” said Um Sulaiman, a resident of the Gaza Strip whose son was killed in the strike.

“We were by the school gates, I went out to get things for my children when the strike hit, a huge explosion, people were flying in all directions, there were no ambulances, it took about an hour or 40 minutes to arrive, and people were thrown all around, civilians who are not affiliated with Hamas, Fatah or any other faction,” said a resident of the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) High Commissioner said that one million young people under the age of eighteen in the Gaza Strip, including those in elementary and secondary schools, are living in the rubble in poor conditions.

Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA High Commissioner, said: “We have today about one million people below the age of eighteen in Gaza, among them more than six hundred thousand are on the edge of primary and secondary high school… They are all living in the rubble, they are deeply deeply traumatized.”

Since the beginning of the clashes between Hamas and Israel, more than 38,240 Palestinians have been killed and 88,033 others have been injured.
