Lahore, 12th May: Jamia Ashrafia Lahore has passed a Fatwa related to the I’tikaaf during the last ten days of Ramadan.

According to the sources, Jamia Asrafia says that I’tikaaf for men can take place only in the mosques and not at home.

In every mosque, a few people must observe I’tikaaf with precautionary measures. Women will perform I’tikaaf in their homes.

According to the fatwa issued by Dar-ul-Iftaa of Jamia Ashrafia Lahore, the country’s leading religious institution, with reference to the Sunnah of I’tikaaf in Ramadan, it is Sunnah to observe I’tikaaf in the last ten days of Ramadan.

The Sunnah of Muqaddah Ali Al-Kifaya means that if a few Muslims observe I’tikaaf in the mosque of their area, then the responsibility of I’tikaaf will be waived from the responsibility of all the people of that area. Similarly, it is a condition for men to observe I’tikaaf in mosques.

It is not permissible to observe i’tikaaf in houses other than mosques. If a man observes i’tikaaf in his house, his i’tikaaf will not be valid.

Therefore, in the current epidemic of coronavirus, taking appropriate precautionary and governmental precautionary measures, a few people in each neighborhood of the mosque should arrange I’tikaf at appropriate distances in the mosques so that the I’tikaaf does not have to be abandoned completely.

Engage in prayers and supplications as much as possible during Ramadan in your own homes.
