Incarcerated Kashmiri politician Engineer Rashid, who won the recent parliamentary election from Baramulla constituency in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has applied for interim bail in a court in Delhi to take his oath as a Member of the Indian parliament.

Engineer Rashid ran as an independent candidate for the Baramulla seat and defeated National Conference candidate Omar Abdullah.

Engineer Rashid has been lodged in the Tihar Jail since August 9, 2019, when he was arrested by the India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

Additional Sessions Judge of Delhi’s Patiala House court, Chander Jit Singh has directed the NIA to respond to the bail application by Friday.
